Canan Moodie is a South African professional rugby star who plays for the Springboks, South Africa’s national rugby team, and the Bulls club. The South African rugby winger was born on the 5th of November 2002 in Paarl City, Western Cape, South Africa. The young star is 190 centimeters tall and weighs 86 kilograms.

FAMILY.

His parents are Raymond Moodie and Chantel Demas. The rugby star has an elder brother, Keanu, and a younger sister, Aneke. His brother pursued long jump and hurdles. Canan Moodie attended the Paarl Boys’ primary school and the Boland Agricultural High School. He developed his rugby skills in high school. He played as a center at school and won a high school championship. Additionally, Moodie represented Boland Landbou at the Western Province’s youth teams in 2019 and 2020.

CAREER.

 His professional career kicked off when he joined the Blue Bulls academy in 2020. Moodie participated in the 2021 RSA provincial under-20 championship. The player joined the South African under-20 team in the same year to compete in the International Series, a Covid-19-induced replacement series for the Junior World Championship.

Canaan Moodie signed a contract with the Blue Bulls in 2022 and played in the Currie Cup Premier Division. He scored on his debut professional match on 19th January 2022 against Western Province. Shortly after his professional debut, he joined the Bulls during their first season of the United Rugby Championship (URC).

Shortly after his professional debut, Canan joined the Springboks touring team in August 2022 for matches against Australia in the Rugby Championship. He scored a try in the 38th minute during his Test debut against Australia in Sydney. Moodie received his first cap as the second youngest player to ever play for the Springboks. In June 2023, Canan Moodie was included in the 40-player team for the 2023 Rugby Championship and World Cup training camp. Later on, he was named in the final 33-person South Africa squad for the 2023 World Cup in France.

Canan Moodie had an injury on the hamstring during the Corsica training week before the Springboks moved to Toulon to prepare for the Scotland game. As a result, he missed South Africa’s opening game against Scotland in Marseille in September 2023.

OFF THE FIELD.

Besides making money from his rugby career, Canan is a brand ambassador. He has advertised the Xbox Series X, Puma, and other brands on his Instagram page.
