Cruise ships are large vessels that carry passengers mainly for vacation purposes. Cruise ship workers provide services to passengers on cruise ships. This is because cruise ships are like cities floating on water. Usually, every one worker is required to attend to two customers onboard. This means there is quite a lot of job opportunities in different departments ranging from serving food and drinks, maintaining cabins and public areas (housekeeping), leading shipboard activities, providing entertainment and assisting in the operation of the ship.

TYPES OF EMPLOYMENT.

Many cruise ship workers are hired on a contractual basis. The contract may span from four to nine months depending on the cruise line you are working for and your kind of job. Moreover, it is possible to terminate the contract when you so wish to as long as you do not owe the company. Some companies help their employees to acquire the necessary training and documentation on the agreement that the worker will pay back the money once they start working.  More often, the size of the cruise line and the region it sails affect or determine wages.
