You may find people trying to keep a distance away from you or see people frowning their faces each time you enter a room or some will avoid hugging you. They do not hate you but probably your body odor is unpleasant and sometimes repulsive.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS.

Medically, it is said that body odor is caused by a combination of sweat and bacteria that is found on the skin. It could also be caused by an underlying medical condition such as Hidradenitis suppurativa, diabetes and hyperthyroidism. People with chronic diseases are prone to have unpleasant smells due to constant consumption of medications. Body odor itself can be a symptom a disease.

HORMONAL CHANGES.

Hormonal changes in our bodies may trigger body odors coupled with poor diet and excessive consumption of alcohol. Not drinking enough water can make one’s body to release a strong scented sweat. Eating more fruits and a balanced diet may be of help. Youngsters who are on puberty are most likes to have body odor issues due to their body’s transitioning to adult bodies. Women go through hormonal changes during their menstrual cycles and tend to sweat more on certain stages.

POOR HYGIENE/GROOMING.

Poor hygiene is usually the number one cause of body odors. You need to take good care of your body for it to smell pleasant. We always have dead skin cells that can be removed with an everyday bath or shower. If we don’t clean up everyday there will be more bacteria accumulating on our skin. So, when we sweat, that combination of dead cells, a lot of bacteria and sweat will result in an unpleasant smell. You may need to bath or shower twice a day if you sweat excessively.

DIRTY APPAREL.

Repeating to wear dirty clothes is another culprit. You may wash your body but if you don’t change into clean clothe then you will not smell fresh. This applies to all kinds of clothes from outfits to undergarments. Dirty undergarments can make you smell fowl even after a bath. Some people make it worse by getting dressed when their bodies are still wet. Take your time to practice self-care.

HAIR UNDERARMS AND ON THE PUBIC AREA.

Keeping your armpits and pubic areas unshaved may cause you to have a terrible body odor. This is because the hair keeps these areas damp by slowing down the evaporation of sweet. Hence, it gives bacteria more time to breakdown and create odorants. Remember dampness promotes better functioning and breeding of bacteria.

YOUR HEAD AND HAIR.

For the hair on your head, make sure you wash it regularly to avoid stinking. You may look amazingly beautiful from a distance but smell bad because you haven’t washed your hair in a long time.
