PERSONAL LIFE.
Andre was born on 30 March 1994 in Potchefstroom, South Africa. He attended the Klerksdorp High School in Klerksdorp, South Africa. He is 193 centimeters tall and he weighs 113 kilograms. Andre is married to Mábea. The couple tied the knot in 2017 and they have two children, a boy and a girl.
YOUTH CAREER.
He kickstarted his junior career in High School with the Leopards rugby team, where he played at the Under-13 Craven Week competition in 2007. He also played for the teams under 16 in 2010 Grant Khomo Week and under 18 Craven Week before his departure in 2011.
SENIOR CAREER.
Andre joined the Sharks in Durban, a KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union team, in 2013 after graduating from high school. During the 2013 Under 21 Provincial Championship, he started twelve games and emerged as a joint top try scorer in Division A. He played for the teams at different levels and amassed 97 caps in both the Currie Cup and Super Rugby tournaments. André played for the Sharks XV during the Vodacom Cup competition in 2013. He left the Cell C Sharks team in 2020.
SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM.
The star player also played for South Africa’s under-20 team in 2014 and the IRB Junior World Championship. He was later transferred to South Africa’s national team, the Springboks, where he has played from 2018 till now. In September 2023, Esterhuizen was included in the South Africa’s squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. South Africa went on to win the tournament beating New Zealand 12-11 in the final.
THE HARLEQUINS.
He joined Harlequins in the 2020/2021 season during a window transfer. André Esterhuizen’s highlights reveal he showcases himself as the team’s first starter by scoring against the Exeter Chiefs. This led to their highest-scoring win in the premiership final on 26 June 2021. He won three consecutive Man of The Match awards and then was voted Harlequins’ players player of the year and fans player of the season.
