HOW TO APPLY FOR A JOB AT VIKING CRUISES.

Minimum requirements for applying:

• You should be at least 21 years old.
• You should be able to speak and understand English for effective communication.
• You should have a valid passport.
• You should have an STCW certificate or be prepared to get one before joining the crew.
• Other qualifications and experience in the hospitality industry can be an added advantage although some entry level positions do not require experience.
• You should be willing to spend 4 to 6 months onboard

How to apply:

Submit your resume on the Viking website. You may upload it as a PDF, DOC, DOCX OR TXT file. Another option is to import the resume from LinkedIn or Indeed. Make sure your resume is well tailored for the position you are applying for.

Additional documents like a seaman’s book may be required for some roles. It may take a while before you get any response or feedback from the recruiting team but they will definitely get back to you as soon as possible if your application was successful. Keep in mind that many people submit their applications daily so it takes time to go through all the resumes.

If you get selected to advance, you will be contacted for interview either in person or by video call. Make sure you prepare and practice thoroughly for the interview so you can nail it. Keep in mind that some positions will require you to be interviewed more than once especially in the technical and senior positions.

If your interview(s) go well you will be asked to provide various documents to complete your offer, including valid passport, Covid-19 vaccination certificate and if applicable, visa or work permit. You may be required to get your STCW certificate at this stage if you don’t have. Also, you may receive your contract of employment so you can apply for your visa if you need to.

Bear in mind that this process can be longer than you expect depending on the department you wish to work in so you need to be patient.
