Most managers are disliked or even hated by many of their subordinates. In fact, most people who work in leadership or managerial positions are seen as bad people or cruel souls.
We always forget that dealing with human beings is one of the most difficult tasks on earth. Each and every one of us has a mind of their own and that makes us different and unique. We reason differently and we always want things to be done our own way.
Managers are there to get things done. Usually they are given guidelines and targets. They are told and trained how to do things and they have to make sure every other employee complies with the set code and culture. That is where the problem arises.
A manager is in-between the employer and the employees. He or she gets pressure from both sides. He or she is still human and there is always a limit to what they can take. In the end they become harsh simply to get things done.
Managers do as they are told by their superiors and most of the times pleasing these superiors does not require smiles at all. Very few individuals can work without constant supervision. There are employees who always want to be pushed. The moment the manager is out of their site, they don’t work.
You can’t be soft with those kind of people. Remember you came to work and if you listen to what your body is telling you then you won’t be productive. The bottom line is, working hours are meant for work. So the manager is there to make sure you are working for every second you are being paid for .
That side of a manager that you see at work is totally different from who he or she is outside of the workplace. Managers cannot be all nice at work. The reason is that people have a tendency of getting too familiar and that will jeopardise their work.
Usually, people get close and nice to you for them to benefit from you. Once they are close to you then it becomes difficult to control them or correct them when they are wrong. Managers are not to be caught in such situations. You will notice that those who are friends with the manager are usually caught on the wrong side.
They come late to work and they are somehow rude. They do what they are not suppose to do knowing that they are familiar with the one in charge. They complain a lot and they back stab other employees. They the ones who know everything about everyone and anything that is happening in the company.
Managers have important information about the company and the work that is supposed to be kept very safe. Getting too familiar with the rest of the employees may result in them leaking that information. They may do it unintentionally because there are employees who always want to know what is going on up there and they know how to get you talking.
Don’t hate Managers, they are simply getting things done to get the required result. Their position is stressful and it even affects there social and family life if care is not taken.
The funny part is that their superiors are all nice when you meet them. They seem to be so kind and understanding but trust me when I say they actually send the manager to do the dirty and difficult part. And that is pushing you to bring out results. Obviously you don’t see it and you will be insulting Managers saying they act like they own the place.
Well, it looks classy to be in a managerial position but it isn’t. The pressure is too much. Help them by doing what you came to do. Simply do your job!
