We grew up being told that watching news helps you stay informed about the world around you. You get to stayed updated with the latest trends in many things and above all you learn or improve your English speaking if English is not your native language.

It seems like these days things have changed. The news nowadays is all about crime, war and celebrity scandals. What do our young ones learn from these kind of news. It is always about the negative things that are happening. Watching news would only get you anxious.

How about we focus more on positive things, positive information that brings hope to this unsafe world. Let’s not dwell too much on the evil that is happening. Let’s dwell on the good that is happening around us and the good that people are doing especially those in power.

People are actually appearing on the news only after they have done something wrong. We are focusing on the wrong most of the times. Politicians that are tagged with wrongdoing are the ones who you get to see on the screens.

Those who are not are only know to those who are closer to them and the communities they operate in. How about we spread more of good news instead of bad news. The only news section that is or can be a bit encouraging is the sports section.

People now live in fear all because the news they see is about crime, a person has been stabbed to death or shot, are has been hijacked, a girl was raped and murdered, politician ex has stolen this amount of money, there was a bus accident, etcetera.

There are many people who don’t visit certain countries because of the fear instilled in them by the negative news they hear. Imagine an already terrible situation being exaggerated. Who would like to risk their life all in the name of tourism.

There is nothing wrong in trying to alert people about the dangers in their country but don’t make it look like that’s how it is everywhere everyday.
