Selmor Mtukudzi is one of the late music legend Oliver Mtukudzi’s children from his first wife. She is as talented as her father but it hasn’t been really an easy journey as she faces family challenges.

These challenges are a result of his father having a second wife, her step mother Daisy, who seem not to care about how she and her sister Sandra feel. It is not easy to grow up in a broken family.

Selmor was initially excluded from The Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival that was held at Pakare Paye Arts Centre and her fans had to fight for her to be included. She could not perform on the stage because she became emotional.

She tried to sing a song and she began to cry. She could not keep quiet anymore and she ended up dropping the mike and leaving the stage with tears on her face.

Her fans wanted her to perform but she couldn’t, she had had enough of the exclusion from the family and her father’s legacy. How could she be excluded from performing on her late father’s festival.

She said to her fans, “for how long will you fight for me?” Her fans tried to make her feel better but she was done and fed up. They may have felt disappointed because she did not deliver as expected.

Other may have understood her and actually applauded her for opening g up and pouring her heart out. Some people thought it was unprofessional to drop the mike and leave the stage after the whole struggle to get included.

People tend to forget that celebrities are human beings too. She is strong to have endured all the maltreatment from childhood till now as an older woman with a family.

It might be a good idea to focus on her family and forget about all the family drama although it is not easy. We all want to be part of our families and to have a sense of belonging.

Rejection is never easy to deal with. However, moving on and accepting the state of matters is good for one’s emotional and mental wellbeing. Selmor is struggling with dealing with this because she grew up in this mess.

She and her sister had a live interview with DJ Ollah 7 and their story is really a sad one. It doesn’t paint a good picture of the late Mtukudzi at all. Many people are saying he failed his family.

He faced his kids with his first wife. Its very funny that Selmor had to eat from the same pot with dogs. They were treated differently from their half siblings and the father did nothing g about it.

Parents should know that the moment they decide to part ways, it is their kids that will suffer. That is why marriages are for better for worse. Broken homes bring pain and sorrow to children.

Who would have known that Selmor went through all this even when her father was still alive and is still fighting. We hope that she will win the battle and find peace and be an inspiration to many people out there.
